Lisa Gade reviews the Amazon Fire HD 6, the $99 tablet with a 6” IPS display. The Fire HD 6 has a 1280 x 800 display and it runs Amazon Fire OS 4.0 “Sangria” on a 1.5GHz MediaTek processor. It’s available with 8 gigs of storage for $99 or 16 gigs for $119. The tablet has single band WiFi 802.11n Bluetooth, a front VGA camera and rear 2MP camera. Obviously the specs aren’t fantastic, but for the price it’s a solid and reliable tablet that works fine for streaming video and music and reading Kindle books. Amazon offers a 7” version in the $139 Fire HD 7 that shares the same specs as the HD 6.
